Meet Our Pastor

Early Life and Education

Superintendent Cedric D. Johnson, Sr. was born in Jacksonville, Florida to the late Reverend Austin A. Powell, Sr. and Ms. Shirley Y. Johnson. He is a graduate of William M. Raines, Sr. High School. Post-graduation, Superintendent Johnson, Sr. furthered his education at Florida Memorial College, Florida Community College at Jacksonville, Oxford University (Oxford, England), Howard University, and Edward Waters College.

Academic Achievements

Superintendent Johnson, Sr. earned an Associate of Arts Degree and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice, graduating with high honors in both degrees.

Spiritual Journey and Ministry

Superintendent Johnson, Sr. accepted the Lord Jesus Christ at the age of 18 and has been a member of Southside Church Of God In Christ under the leadership of Bishop Edward Robinson, Sr., ever since. He accepted his calling into the ministry in January 1986 and was licensed as a minister to preach at Southside Church Of God In Christ on September 04, 1988. He was ordained as an Elder in March 1997 by the late Bishop C.D. Kinsey.

Pastoral Service

Superintendent Johnson, Sr. received his first pastorate at Bailey Temple Church Of God In Christ in Crystal River, Florida, appointed by the late Bishop C.D. Kinsey. He served as pastor of Bailey Temple Church Of God In Christ from March 1999 to July 2001. In October 2001, Superintendent Johnson, Sr. started Carpenter’s House Church Of God In Christ in Jacksonville, Florida, where he currently serves as pastor. He was also appointed Interim Pastor of Abundant Life Church of God in Christ from June 2009 to February 2012, and upon his beloved father-in-law’s demise, was the pastor at Family Life Fellowship from April 2010 to April 2012.

Leadership Roles

In February 2014, Superintendent Johnson, Sr. was elevated and appointed by Bishop Edward Robinson, Sr. to the office of Superintendent in the Church of God in Christ, leading The Koinonia District. He served various leadership roles on a Jurisdictional level from 2003 to 2016 under the leadership of Bishop Edward Robinson, Sr., including Chief of Staff, Jurisdictional Administrator, and Episcopal Adjutant. As of December 2016, Superintendent Johnson, Sr. serves as one of Bishop Robinson's Administrative Assistants.

Family

Superintendent Johnson, Sr. married Ravandala Irene Lumpkin-Johnson on October 18, 1997. They have two children: Carrington Dion Mercer (Minister Darrius L. Mercer) and Cedric DeVaughn Johnson, II.
